Coochiemudlo Shopping Service Inc (CCSS) is a volunteer based organisation conceived by the Recreation Club in 2006, and is dedicated to assisting eligible residents of Coochiemudlo Island to remain independently living on the island, by delivering shopping from Victoria Point to their Island residences. Clearly getting your shopping onto the ferry, and then home is hard work.

The ‘Regular’ Shopping Service runs every 2nd Wednesday and Friday (Recycle Bin Week), with a new ‘Click & Collect’ service on the alternate 2nd Thursday (Non Recycle Bin Week), and uses Coles Supermarket (Victoria Point).

Members are required to pay an annual subscription fee of $5.00, renewable each July at the AGM to maintain membership, and a shopping delivery fee of $10, at the time of delivery to your home. The fee is fixed irrespective of the number of boxes and bags that you have. New Members are required to complete an application form, declaring that they are eligible to join.

To qualify to use this service, you MUST have either, reached Retirement Age (currently 65) or be in receipt of a Mobility Impaired Pension. In some Special cases the Shopping Service will assist with your shopping during short-term illness or disability, by prior approval. Shoppers will need to provide ‘insulated’ styrofoam boxes, eskies and/or bags to pack their shopping for transporting on ‘regular’ shopping days. The Shopping Service can supply boxes at a cost of $4 each.

Members with cars on the island are requested to deliver their boxes to the van home base (2 Dawn Street) by 15.00 hrs on the Tuesday (for the Wednesday) and by 15.00 hrs on Thursday (for the Friday), boxes are not required for Click & Collect weeks. Members who are unable to deliver their own boxes to the van base and who require box collection have their tied boxes collected from their premises after 15.30 hrs on the respective days. Tied boxes are to be left at the letterbox or somewhere as near as possible that is clearly visible, for the collection team.

The List of Shoppers will be compiled for the respective days, from the boxes that have been delivered to the van (Tuesday or Thursday).

The Service collection point is based outside of Coles Supermarket at Victoria Point, between 9:00 am and 11:30 am on shopping days. We urge members to support Coles as the Store management and staff have co-operated with our Service over a long period, giving access to their cold rooms for storage of our purchased groceries.

If shoppers prefer to use Aldi or Woolworths, it is up to them to get their shopping to the volunteers before the completion time of 11:30, and we will help pack your boxes. Deliveries will commence on the Island after 2:30 pm. Proceed through the end checkout near Leonard’s Poultry. Three volunteers will be waiting to either help pack your groceries in the polystyrene boxes which have been taken over for you. Some people like to pack their own, so let us know. Please DO NOT overload your boxes, maximum weight per box is 10kg.

Please Note:
The new ‘Click and Collect’ service is where you can order your shopping, over the phone, and pay for it on-line. We operate this new service on the alternate Thursday, from the regular shopping week (NOT Recycle Bin Week). Your styrofoam boxes are NOT required, so when placing your order with Coles, please select WITH plastic bags, as this will assist the turnaround time, and there will then be no delay in re-packing your shopping. You also MUST to ensure that your pick-up time slot is booked, for either: 8:00am or 10:00am on Thursday morning. If you are unable to book one of these Thursday morning slots, please try for a late Wednesday afternoon slot instead (your shopping will be COLD stored overnight)

Your order can be placed with Coles anytime from the Friday morning (1 week before shopping), up until the Latest by Midday of the day before shopping (Wednesday). Please make sure that you are home by 11:30am to ensure receipt of your shopping. If you are not home your shopping will be left somewhere in the shade. Also, please ensure you call or send a message (0407 777 221) with your Order Number, before shopping day.

We are now offering the option to pay your $10 delivery fee (by directly deposit, using Internet Banking), into our Shopping Service Bank Account, as below.
